I often find myself in a car on a freeway headed to a gig.
The car usually has an aux cable, the freeway usually has traffic, and the gig is usually a good distance away. When I’m carpooling with fellow musicians, the subject of music always comes up (how could it not!?).
Inevitably, I ask, “So! What are you listening to right now?”
The answers have ranged from Justin Timberlake to mid-seventies Keith Jarrett. I’ve always found it much easier and more fulfilling to bond over music than sports, politics, etc. One minute, you’re staring at asphalt and taillights and the next minute – poof! – the car is full of music and driving is the MOST FUN THING EVER!
I thought I’d fill you in on a bit of what’s on my driving playlist right now. After all, we have many miles to go before we sleep.
